Digital Post
If you have a Danish CPR number, you automatically receive Digital Post from public authorities.
In Denmark, you receive most post from public authorities digitally and not as a paper letter. It is the law that persons aged 15 years and above who live in Denmark and have a Danish CPR number need to receive digital post from the public authorities (unless they are exempt for some reason).
Digital Post from public authorities includes letters from Randers Municipality, letters from the hospital, pension statements, information about state education support (SU), changes to housing benefits, replies to applications for childcare, letters from the Danish Tax and Customs Administration (SKAT), etc.
You can receive digital post either through borger.dk or e-Boks. You only need to use and read your mail at one of these websites.
You can check a setting within your digital mailbox so you are notified by email when you receive digital post.
MitID
To access your Digital Post, you will need a MitID. Your MitID is issued by the Citizen Service. If you need help with MitID, you must book an appointment with the Citizen Service in advance.

Who can be exempt?
You can be exempted from receiving digital post if you:
- suffer from a mental or physical disability that prevents you from using digital post.
- do not own a computer or live in an area with little or no internet access.
- have language difficulties that prevent you from using digital solutions.
- do not have a permanent address.
- have practical difficulties obtaining MitID.
If you wish to apply for an exemption to digital post, you must apply in person at the Citizen Service Center. If you are unable to show up in person, you can authorize a person to apply for you.
You can also authorize another person to access, read and manage your digital post.
