All citizens and companies registered in Demark are required to have a NemKonto (Easy Account). A NemKonto is your main bank account.

Banking in Denmark

Payments in Denmark, such as salaries and payments from the public authorities, are made to your NemKonto through electronic transactions. Most other bills and payments are also made electronically through your main bank account. Hence, having a Danish bank account is essential when living in Randers.

You can choose freely between whichever bank you want. However, the different banks' services and prices vary, so it can be wise to browse the opportunities before choosing. Your bank can also help you with financial advice such as budget planning, obtaining a loan, buying stocks, and changing money.

To open a Danish bank account, you must have a Danish CPR number and address and bring documentation of your identity with a photo (passport). Some banks also require your employment contract.

As soon as you have a bank account, you must inform your workplace of the details so your salary can be transferred correctly every month.

If you would like to use online banking you need a NemID (Easy ID), which is the login for all public websites and services. Almost all banks offer online and mobile banking once you have obtained you NemID key card.
